When you run as an independent candidate you start from scratch. No organization, no volunteers. NY’s Congressional District stretches from the Pennsylvania border to Lake Ontario and has over 490,000 voters. That’s a lot of ground to cover, and there’s only a few months to do it. By telling Martin’s story, this series aims to open dialogue about the two-party political system in the U.S. and smooth the path for future independent candidates.
